| All MK I series bombs have the same uniform tear drop shape. The bombs are two piece cast steel with flimsy sheet metal steel fins. The practice bombs were either empty casings with a small black powder charge in them or had a can filled with titanium tetrachloride. This chemical would produce a smoke. A demolition bomb was filled with TNT. Unfortunately due to the construction of the bomb it was unable to produce a fragmentation effect that would be useful against targets. Most bombs would exploded into 2 or 3 large fragments. |
