WWI FRENCH-US 75MM GUNS
The 75mm was first introduced in WWI as a light artillery piece, with projectiles ranging from shrapnel, gas, illumination, smoke, and HE. The gun was used up threw the Vietnam war, with both improvements done to the gun and projectiles. It was the main gun for the M24 CHAFFEE tank, and placed in the nose of bombers during WWII to help add to the destruction of the bomb run. A 75mm recoiless rifle was designed in the late 40's as an Anti-Armor gun. |
